Great defensive posture!
The 6th grade girls
Mary = dirt magnetAfter a morning in the primary school, we had another session with the women's team yesterday afternoon. Hearing that the teams they will be competing against in the national league are practicing daily, we decided to pick up the pace of practice and work on moving without the ball (a complete foreign concept to them). Within minutes they were exhausted, but have since asked if we could train three days per week instead of two, so I suppose the concept of self-torture is universal when it comes to fitness. As a side note, I've learned that I have a special knack for attracting dirt. Somehow at the end of every practice, the girls pull their jeans back on and walk off as if nothing had happened. Even Molly and Elise could pass for relatively hygenic. I, on the other hand, turn a dark shade of black and attract flies immediately.
After practice Molly and I had another spanish lesson with Chepe's sister, who graciously accepted our lame excuses for not doing our homework. We were supposed to write a short story in spanish using some of our new vocabulary, but convinced her that we wanted to tell our stories verbally instead. After painstakingly describing our day to her, we were visited by the most adorable child I've ever seen in my life, her neighbor, three year old Carolina. Carolina is affectionately nicknamed "Gordita" meaning "little fat one" and is quite rambunctious. Apparently she is planning on attending our girls clinic tomorrow which means...Molly has finally found a fit for the tiny Adidas cleats! We tried to explain to Carolina that we have cleats for her, but it turns out that the language barrier goes both ways when you're dealing with 3 year olds. The word for cleats is "tacos" the same as the delicious treats we all know and love. After five minutes of explaining to her how we have shorts and socks and a little tiny tshirt for her as well, she ran off to tell her mom that the gringas were taking her out for tacos ie. the food. Whoops. I guess we'll have to sacrifice and buy some yummy tacos as well...really upsetting!
