Girls Take advantage of new Office Hours

As soon as we moved into Tres Pisos, Lindsey, Myra and I established Office Hours for the girls three days a week. We thought that it would be a great way to both optimize the new space and foster sentiments of support and safety. The time was idealized as an opportunity to either work with the girls on homework and school projects or have conversations and chat about life. The extra time has allowed us the opportunity to connect with the girls more intimately since fewer girls have been coming to office hours than to evening activities or practices. We’ve had at least one girl come to every office hour session and at most 8 girls. While we have always spent some of the time just chatting with the girls, we have also helped girls with English homework, learned both English and Spanish songs, done arts and crafts and played games. We hope that the girls will continue to take advantage of this time and use us as a resource and also that the time with them will continue to strengthen our relationships and create an environment of trust and support!
