Like many other Latin American countries this month, Nicaragua celebrated its Independence Day on September 15th. For that reason, the theme for the activity nights at the office has been Nicaraguan history and independence. Both the grandes and pequeñas have kept busy working on dramatic presentations, art projects and trivia challenges that involved national heroes, symbols and tourism. Among the pequeña group highlights included a trivia game that tested their knowledge of Nicaragua's national symbols and making masks of their favorite national hero.
The grandes took the stage to present monologues to the pequeñas about different notable Nicaraguans. Last week we took a "tour" of various Nicaraguan tourist destinations before each grande had the opportunity to create her own pamphlet about sites to see in Nicaragua.
