Bienvenidos!
Hola! My name is Carly and I am the latest volunteer to be joining the
Soccer Without Borders team here in Granada. I am joining Boston and
replacing Steph (who from what I've heard did a fabulous job and left
me very big shoes to fill!). I arrived in Granada four days ago and
can't even describe how great my experience has been so far. The
people here are so welcoming, Boston, Chepe, Suyen and the youth
coaches have taken me under their wing, and the girls are SO MUCH FUN!
Last night was girls night and we made pulseras (bracelets) from
rainbow colored string. I began to teach the girls how to make a
fairly simple type of bracelet with two strings and then David (one of
the youth coaches) came in and blew mine out of the water! He made
bracelets with four strings, complete with clasp. He could be a
professional! At some point he will definitely need to teach me.
It was great to finally meet the girls that I've heard so much about.
Girls night is very special and I felt lucky to be a part of it. My
Spanish is improving by the moment and the girls are great in helping
me with new words and phrases. I can't wait to get out on the field on
Saturday and knock the ball around with them. Plus, our new league
starts the next weekend! So much to look forward to.
More posts to come...adios!
