It's hard to believe I haven't posted since Wednesday. Days have been flying by and I can't believe I'll be headed out of here tomorrow. On Friday we met with the two most official bodies for soccer in Nicaragua, the Department of Recreation and Sport and the Nicaraguan Futbol Federation. Both agreed to "sign off" on our work here, and possibly collaborate on some efforts, including having our Coaching Clinic in March count towards the 40 hours of coaching training that they need here in order to receive their certificates from the federation. We also tentatively scheduled a Soccer Without Borders vs. Nicaragua game against their Full Women's National Team on March 15th. For us retired folks that probably means easing up on the oreos and cheetos for the next couple of months!
Friday night Becky, Myra, and Hubs arrived and have been taking it all in ever since. We just finished their three day orientation with a ride on the Panchanguerro (fiesta bus). The whole block has been anxious for their arrival, and the band of stalker children wasted little time in hugging, kissing, and bringing them presents. For the rest of us, it's back to our real jobs!
