Kief celebrating the new paint. She will love me for posting this.

Elise painting...with company

Cesar mixing paint...the only artistic member of our group

One of the guys still not giving up on the tiny brushes

Yesterday we spent the morning and afternoon in the hot sun painting the Futsal field by the lake. We decided to go with blue for the goal mouths, with white lines and a blue and white soccer ball in the middle...mostly because blue and white were the only colors of road paint we could find. Some of the guys from our neighborhood are joining the futsal league this spring, and we suggested that they help paint the field in exchange for uniforms for their new team. After getting the obligatory half hour of futsal out of the way at 7am, they finally buckled down and got to work. Shortly thereafter, Chepe admitted what we had been trying to tell him all along: large fields require rollers in order to paint them. Our tiny brushes covered maybe 1/100 of the field before Flaca showed up and offered to bring us paint rollers from her house. We lasted a few hours before even the sliver of skin between my tank top and shorts managed to turn a bright shade of red. Taking that as a sign to break, we headed to Flaca´s house for some much needed, and I dare say well-deserved juice in a bag.
We returned at 3 to finish the job alongside the girls from the premier team and a couple of coaches from the leagues, only to realize that the extra paint we had bought that afternoon was technically a different shade of blue. We finished painting the fence posts and goals, despite the company of a herd of cattle and two young shepherds on horseback. Chepe was quite angry with himself for not realizing that Azul is a much duller color than Azul Vivo. With all the extra irrelevant paint, we decided to paint some of the fence posts, and are now considering painting random bridges around town. Chepe found the correct paint today and we will finish the remaining part of the goal mouth tomorrow morning and hope that it dries before our afternoon tournament!
